WINDHAM, Vt. -
Vermont has been granted a waiver to use federal disaster relief funds to clean up Irene related damage in Windham county.
The state received $21.6 million from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development in January.
The Burlington Free Press reports the funding was originally approved for use in Washington and Windsor counties, which were determined to be hardest hit after the storm.
Now $4.5 million will be used for continued cleanup in Windham county.
