Mount Snow opens rider-friendly bike trail

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont's Mount Snow has opened a new, rider-friendly, three-mile downhill mountain biking trail.

Mountain Bike Manager Justin Hongell said the course was designed to be just challenging enough so that it gives people a taste of what the sport is like without scaring them off.

Earlier this month, Hongell said successfully took a 5-year-old child, riding a 16-inch bicycle with no suspension, onto the trails.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports riders can traverse the trail with or without a guide. The entire trail's incline is never more than 10 percent, with more than 25 berms, or curves with high walls, that allow riders to maneuver it with ease at any speed they feel comfortable with.
