Vermont man has been charged with aggravated sexual assault on a 14-year-old
girl, and the man's wife faces a charge of helping him in the crime.
Police in Hartford say Steven Smith,
46, of White River Junction, is charged with forcing the 14-year-old to have
sex.
Smith's wife, Lucinda Smith, 41, is
charged with aiding in the commission of the sexual assault and with lewd and
lascivious conduct with a child.
The pair pleaded not guilty Tuesday
and was being held without bail.
Police say Monday's arrests followed a lengthy
investigation.
