Guilford woman convicted of embezzlement

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A guilty verdict in federal court Thursday for a Guilford woman who embezzled over $80,000 from the Algiers Fire District.

Sherry Roebuck, 51, had been the treasurer of the district. Prosecutors say she stole the money over a four-year period starting in 2007 by writing checks to herself.

Roebuck faces up to 20 years in jail. No sentencing date is set.
