Keegan Bradley has already made his name as a rising young star on the PGA Tour and another Vermont native is hoping to join him on the big stage. Trevor Murphy fired a course record eight under 63 today and currently holds a three shot lead at the Web.Com Tour's Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, when play was suspended today midway through the first round.
The Web.Com Tour is golf's version of Triple-A baseball, one step below the PGA. Murphy, a 27-year-old native of St. Johnsbury, is a three time Vermont state amateur champ. He posted a bogey free round in what is just his second appearance on the Tour this season. The first came two weeks ago, when Murphy made the cut at a tournament in Utah and finished tied for 22nd. The first round of the tournament continues Friday morning.
