LEBANON, N.H. -
New Hampshire's largest hospital is partnering with a major national health care network.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center announced Friday it is now a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. That means patients can get consultations from doctors at the renowned Minnesota hospital.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock will remain independent, but will have access to Mayo resources. In return, the Mayo Clinic is expanding its model of care.
"We look for culturally similar organizations, like-minded organizations, where the patients come first, where it's all about high-quality care," said John Noseworthy, CEO of the Mayo Clinic.
"We will create a sustainable health system not just for our organization, but for this country and hopefully for the world with this model," said Jim Weinstein, the president of Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
The network says its main goal is to help people gain their expertise without having to travel to a Mayo facility.
The network was launched last year and also includes health systems affiliated with but not owned by Mayo in Arizona, Michigan, Missouri and North Dakota.
