Irasburg teen killed in accidental shooting

BROWNINGTON, Vt. -

A teen from Irasburg was killed over the weekend in what Vermont State police describe as an accidental shooting.

Police were called to a home on Parker Road in Brownington Saturday evening for a report the teen had been shot with a muzzleloader rifle. Cody Cole, 15, was transported to the hospital in Newport, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Investigators say they have found no evidence that the shooting was anything other than an accidental discharge of the weapon. Police have not provided details on how the accident happened. Investigators did say another teen was present when Cole was shot.
