Agriculture convention comes to Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A national agricultural fraternity that counts many of Vermont's and the nation's industry leaders among its ranks, holds its annual convention in Burlington this week.

Alpha Gamma Rho is a social and professional fraternity with chapters on more than 70 campuses nationwide.

A large group of active and alumni fraternity members are meeting to present awards and hear speeches from industry leaders.

Wednesday three buses worth of attendees will tour Vermont farms.

For many out-of-staters it will be their first opportunity to see maple production and dairy farms in action.

"There's all kinds of things that are going on that are very unique around the state, up in the Northeast Kingdom all the way to the south, agriculture is very very important for Vermont, it's one of the largest employers in the state of Vermont," said Larry Myott, conference planner

The tour will mostly cover Addison and Chittenden counties.
