SHEFFIELD, Vt. -
A tractor-trailer fire shut down part of Interstate 91 South in Sheffield overnight.
Police say John Lubberts, 54, of Ontario, heard a thud from the trailer just after midnight. When he pulled over, he saw one of the trailer's tires on fire and attempted to put it out, but the tarp covering the load then caught on fire.
The trailer was totaled. Interstate 91 south was closed for about 2.5 hours while crews put out the fire. They say it may need to be shut down again during the cleanup, but they do not know when that will be.
