In Crime by Numbers-- looking at how to stop criminals from committing crimes again.

Vermont courts are experimenting with new ways to reduce crime by getting at the root cause of problems. For example-- getting drug users treatment and therapy for people with mental health illness.

So do the numbers show it's working?

We have new data from Max Schlueter. He is the director of the Vermont Center for Justice Research at Norwich University. Karen Gennette is the State Treatment Court Coordinator. They both appeared on The :30 to talk about the issue.
