MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Dairy farmers in Vermont are feeling the effects of the drought in the Midwest.
The Times Argus reports extreme weather across the country has increased feed cost in Green Mountain State, causing many dairy farmers to cut back production. The U.S. Agriculture Department says food costs could go up 3-4 percent next year.
But Vermont farmers say they're already paying about $50 more per ton, which means $1,000-10,000 more per month depending on how much they need to buy.
