Act 250 hearings begin on Costco gas pumps

COLCHESTER, Vt. -

Act 250 hearings started Wednesday on a proposal to allow Costco to sell gasoline.

The big box retailer wants to put in pumps at its store in Colchester. The company says it would offer gasoline at significantly lower prices than are currently available around the Burlington area.

But the plan is opposed by local businesses, including competing gas station owners. They have raised objections about impacts on traffic and the environment.
