ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - Construction of a $3.5 million bike path in St. Johnsbury, Vt., is nearly finished.
Work is tentatively scheduled to conclude by Aug. 15 on the Three Rivers Transportation Path. It will be open to bikers, hikers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and walkers.
The Caledonian-Record reports the 1.5-mile unpaved path stretches from a parking area on South Main Street into a culvert beneath Route 5, over a re-decked railroad bridge, behind the St. Johnsbury Academy baseball field, across High Street and through the woods to Mount Vernon Street. It will someday connect to the planned Lamoille Valley Rail Trail form St. Johnsbury to Swanton.
