Festival of Fools kicks off in Burlington

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The Festival of Fools got under way Friday in downtown Burlington.

The festival showcases family-friendly street theater, including circus, music and comedy performers from around the globe. There are four main stage locations surrounding the Church Street Marketplace and City Hall Park.

"It's a wonderful thing to have a festival completely dedicated to bringing out humor and laughter and there is going to be a lot of that for the next three days," said Mayor Miro Weinberger, D-Burlington.

"'Cause I've never heard of a flying raccoon. Yeah, it was flying," said Calvin Jordon of Milton.

"It was cute and I was sad for it when it fell down on the pavement," said Stella Jordan of Milton.

The festival wraps up Sunday with a Grand Finale at 6 p.m. featuring all the performers in the festival.
