Enosburgh woman charged with assaulting officer

SHELDON, Vt. -

An Enosburgh woman will be in court Monday for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Police say Amanda Atkins was lying in the road on Route 236 in Sheldon at around 9 p.m. Saturday-- extremely drunk and obstructing traffic.

They say when they tried to help, the 29-year-old she became combative and tried to kick and head-butt the troopers.

At the hospital, police say she continued her violent rant and kicked a trooper in the head. The trooper suffered minor injuries.
