BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A new art gallery in Burlington has a special focus on helping people go solar.
Monday morning, solar power provider SunCommon opened an art gallery and storefront on Cherry Street. The company will use the space to offer solar workshops. The gallery will also be used by Vermont artists and nonprofits to display their work and to host clean energy-related events.
"Some people come in for the art; some people come in for the solar. Either way, we're happy to spread the news that Vermont homeowners can go solar with no upfront costs and a monthly payment below what they're paying their utilities," said Duane Peterson of SunCommon.
Right now the gallery space features nearly 40 solar-inspired works of art and murals highlighting the history of energy in Vermont.
SunCommon hopes the Burlington location will attract more city residents to solar energy.
