No new buses yet for northern NY

ESSEX COUNTY, N.Y. -

A proposal for new buses in Essex County, N.Y., is on hold.

The county voted not to go after $1.5 million in transportation grants for new buses until they know what next year's budget looks like.

Officials say the aging buses need to be replaced or the system will eventually be shut down.

The Plattsburgh Press-Republican reports the bus system has about 6,000 riders a month.
