Composting amendments in Shaftsbury

SHAFTSBURY, Vt. -

After more than a year of public outcry, composting amendments are coming to Shaftsbury.

Currently the bylaw limits commercial composting facilities to the town's industrial zone, making some fear the town has zoned out commercial composting.

The amendments were approved by the select board after a public hearing on Monday.

According to the Bennington Banner, the two substantial changes involved clarifying what a professional engineer means and what a baseline standard is for such a facility.
