Franconia hires new police chief

Posted: Updated:

FRANCONIA, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire town of Franconia has a new police chief.

John Monaghan, a former Lebanon police officer and New Hampshire state trooper, started this week as police chief.

Monaghan replaces acting Franconia Police Chief Mark Taylor, who assumed the position after the retirement of former Franconia Police Chief Mark Montminy earlier this year.

The Caledonian-Record reports a welcome reception for Monaghan is scheduled for Friday afternoon at the Franconia Town Hall.
