A historic building in Brattleboro gutted by fire last year is getting new life.
The 140-year-old Brooks House on Main Street burned back in April of last year. It housed 10 businesses and about 60 people.
The select board Tuesday agreed to loan $100,000 to a group redeveloping the property and approved a $750,000 grant that would allow the project to move forward.
Renovating the five-story building is expected to cost $18 million.
