TOPSHAM, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a 9-year-old boy has been hospitalized with head injuries after he was struck by a car while playing in a front yard.
A spokeswoman at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., says the child was in stable condition Saturday morning.
Police said a car traveling in Topsham failed to negotiate a curve in a roadway Friday night. The car went through an intersection and into a ditch, striking the boy.
The driver, 28-year-old Kristopher Kingsbury of Topsham, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and gross negligent operation of a vehicle.
