WATERBURY, Vt. -
We've told you about Rutland's plan to be the next solar city -- but could Waterbury be next?
Waterbury Local Energy Action Partnership hopes so. According to the Times Argus, the nonprofit will present a plan to Waterbury town officials Wednesday proposing to make Waterbury self-sufficient on solar.
Eighty pole-mounted panes would be built on three to four acres of land to supply power to the town.
This proposal includes effectively ending the town's relationship with Green Mountain Power. The group says Waterbury could save nearly a million dollars over the next 25 years if GMP's rates stay the same.
