MENDON, Vt. -
The Town of Mendon is remembering Tropical Storm Irene in a unique way.
The town Historical Society spent months tape recording first person accounts of the struggles Mendon residents faced. Those accounts and photographs are catalogued in a new book the society will unveil later this week called "Irene Storms Through Mendon: You CAN get there from Here."
"It's their stories, their quotes form the framework of the book. And we decided to publish a book and tell Mendon's unique story of how we dealt with Irene and we did it in some very creative and heroic ways," said Ann Singiser with the Historical Society.
The book is available at the Mendon Town Offices and costs 27 dollars. A CD with the recordings will be there too for anyone who wants to listen.
