Another meth lab bust in the North Country.
Several people are in custody and a community on edge. After the highly explosive drug was found cooking in an apartment.
Mary Jennette was playing outside her home on Route 11 in Mooers Forks Monday with her three kids. Playtime came to an abrupt end around 3:30 in the afternoon.
"I just seen a bunch of people coming through the woods and grass and stuff and up the driveway and around the house with masks and guns Pointed and they kicked on the next door neighbors door," said Jennette.
Two dozen cops - including a tactical team -- barged in to bust a meth lab.
"My kids were scared they didn't know what was going on," said Jennette.
State police are releasing very few details about the meth bust. Late Monday, a decontamination crew arrived on the scene. We've learned investigators initially arrived at the home to execute an arrest warrant and discovered a meth lab operation inside an apartment in the 4-unit complex. Several suspects were taken into custody. No names have been released, charges are pending. Neighbors were shocked to learn the news.
"He was an older guy, he was nice, really nice, couldn't talk but was funny," said Jennette.
Since mid-July police have busted four meth labs and possibly a fifth. The first was at a motel in Keeseville. Four days later, another meth lab was discovered in Plattsburgh. Two days after that, another one in Plattsburgh. Last Friday, police seized evidence of a potential meth kitchen in Chazy. And now this one in Mooers Forks. Police will not comment if the recent meth lab investigations are connected or not.
For Mary Jennette, Monday's meth bust is unsettling, "I don't want to stay here anymore, because I have my kids and they don't need to be around this." The mother of three just moved to the neighborhood two weeks ago.
