BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont renewable energy company is once again exploring the creation of a solar-powered farm in Bennington.
Encore Redevelopment of Burlington has renewed a proposal to set up solar panels at the town's former dump.
The Bennington Banner reports the company said new legislation and decreases in solar panel pricing have changed the renewable energy landscape.
Town Planning Director Daniel Monks said officials will start negotiating with the company to determine if electricity rates offered by Encore will benefit the town.
Encore recently withdrew an application to build two turbines along the Canadian border near Derby after much opposition to the project.
