July unemployment rate up for NH

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire's unemployment rate in July was 5.4 percent, an increase of three-tenths of a percentage point from the June rate.

The July 2011 unemployment rate was 5.5 percent.

The number of employed residents for July was 699,310, a decrease of 4,450 from the previous month and an increase of 3,060 from July 2011. The number of unemployed residents increased by 2,270 over the month to 40,140. That's 600 fewer unemployed than in July 2011.

The national unemployment rate for July was 8.3 percent, an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the June rate and a decrease of 0.8 percentage points from July 2011.
