WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -
A big contribution to Irene recovery funds-- the Rotary International Foundation recently approved a grant for more than $412,000 to support victims of the tropical storm.
The grant is one of the largest in the organization's history and will help provide relief to a wide array of people who continue to struggle after the storm.
"They will be going to things such as short-term rent, fuel, fuel assistance, filling tanks, furnaces, repairs of furnaces, or appliances, repair of appliances, service roads, culverts, waster removal, disposal, mold remediation," said Janice McElroy of the Rotary.
The money will be administered through five community action agencies around Vermont. Those organizations will begin accepting applications soon.
