PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 the Battle of Plattsburgh commemoration will expand to 10 days this year.

Organizers announced the winner of the poster contest, and that several more marching bands are being added to this year's parade on Sept. 8.

"In addition, we will have the Norwich Cadet Marching Band and drill team, drill team of 20 members, the marching band of 45 members, that's huge, that's the first time we've gotten them over here in force and we are delighted it worked out," said Kit Booth with the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Committee.

The historic naval battle on Lake Champlain, and invasion of British troops from Canada, will be re-enacted.

And Pulitzer-Prize-winning historian Alan Taylor will give a talk about his book "The Civil War of 1812" at Plattsburgh State.
