Franklin County, NY, looks at tourism expansion

FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.Y. -

A Northern New York county is looking to expand tourism.

Franklin County is considering implementing a new bed tax or revamping its tourism department.

The Plattsburgh Press-Republican reports a decision needs to be made by 2013 so state legislators can ask for permission to institute an occupancy tax.

A meeting to discuss the potential tax increase is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Franklin County courthouse.
