LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -
The search continues for a father missing in Lake Placid.
It's been four days since Seth Kilburn, 34, was last seen after leaving a bar. Police say he left Wise Guys Bar in downtown Lake Placid between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Sunday after drinking with friends. Investigators were told he left on foot and there was no indication he was upset. Police believe, though, he may have been disoriented.
Wednesday, nearly five dozen law enforcement officers, firefighters and volunteers searched for the lifelong Lake Placid resident who is the father of two young children. They focused on roadsides and hiking trails along with bodies of water. A state police helicopter also aided in the search. The search area remains focused on a one-mile area within the village.
Several credible tips have come in, including one person who reported seeing Kilburn walking along Route 73 early Sunday morning. Police do not suspect foul play in his disappearance. They say Kilburn does not have a car and they remain confident he is still in the area and are optimistic he is OK.
"We are still asking people to search their backyards, search their outbuildings, any campers or caretakers who may have an outbuilding, just go out and check them see if anybody got stuck in there, got hurt, fell asleep," Lake Placid Police Chief Bill Moore said.
Kilburn is a white man, about 6' tall and weighs about 195 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes and wears eye glasses. Kilburn was last seen wearing a blue-and-white striped polo shirt and tan or khaki-colored shorts.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
