Ann Witt
Wendy Therrian
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
Two nurses at the hospital in
Plattsburgh have been arrested for prescription drug fraud.
The New York attorney general's office
says Ann Witt, 38, of Ellenburg Center, used her job as an LPN at CVPH Medical
Center to steal blank prescription pads and forge prescriptions to herself.
Prosecutors say Witt obtained over 1,500 Hydrocodone and Xanax pills from
various Plattsburgh-area pharmacies in less than six months.
Wendy Therrian, 35, of Altona, who is
also an LPN, was arrested in a separate case for stealing Oxycodone pills
directly from the CVPH dispensary. Prosecutors say Therrian created temporary
accounts in the name of a doctor in order to steal two pills during every shift
for a year.
Witt pleaded not guilty to charges of
criminal possession of a forged instrument, forgery and criminal possession of
a controlled substance. If convicted, Witt faces up to 10-20 years in state
prison.
Therrian pleaded not guilty to
falsifying business records, computer tampering, criminal possession of a
controlled substance and petit larceny. If convicted, Therrian faces up to 1
1/3-4 years in
prison.
