NORTH TROY, Vt. -
A dairy operation in North Troy is
Vermont's Farm of the Year.
The UVM Extension Service and the
Vermont Dairy Industry Association gave the honor to Chaput Family Farms. They
have 1,800 Holsteins. The Chaputs were among the first in the state to install
a methane digester to produce electricity. They also just bought their own milk
truck and tanks to haul milk to the processor, a cost-saving measure that gives
them more control over milk quality.
