This week we're in Newport with the North Country 10 and under all stars. It was a rebuilding year for the representatives of the North Country area of Orleans County. The team played in tournaments in New Hampshire and Quebec. All but two of the players will be eligible to play in this age group next year, so they will be a team to watch.
Carlo, a 10 year old catcher asks, "What is the most amount of people you played in front of?"
Tyler Vail, Lake Monsters Pitcher: "That's a very good question Carlo. The most people I've played in front of was in Maryland last year. It was in front of 5000. That was for the Lake Monsters."
Daniel, an 8 year old catcher asks, "What team did you play for when you were 10?
Brett Vertigan, Lake Monsters Outfielder: "Hey Daniel. That's a great question. When I was 10 years old I played for the Astros and if I remember right, we didn't win many games."
Brian, a 9 year old pitcher asks, "What do you think about on the pitchers mound to keep you focused?"
Nate Eppley, Lake Monsters Pitcher: "Well Brian, I like to think about the approach and the plan I want to use when facing each batter. So, I just try to execute one pitch at a time and just stay on my game plan so that I can get them out, or get a quick ground ball, something to get out of the inning and help my team win."
