PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
Lawmakers in New York are looking to boost border town business.
New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Bill Owens joined business owners from both sides of the border in Plattsburgh. They heard ideas about developing partnerships between governments, colleges, improving infrastructure and job training. The senator is helping small businesses learn about moving goods worldwide.
"A start up who has only been in business for a few years is not necessarily going to have that information readily available. So one of the things I want to readily partner with the Chamber of Commerce on, is creating a one stop shop for a business that wants to export or import or engage in cross border commerce. We want to make it easier for them," said Gillibrand.
Before her trip to Plattsburgh the senator stopped in Saranac Lake to tour a bio-tech firm that recently moved into the old village office building.
