Recycle those old crayons

Making something new out of something old is a great way to teach your kids about the power of recycling. And making these crafty crayons is all about being creative, thrifty and crunchy!

Supply List

- Lots and lots of old crayon pieces
- Mini muffin tin

Get crafting!

1. Peel off the paper labels from your crayons.

2. Break crayon bits into even smaller bits, just enough so they fit into muffin tins.

3. Separate crayon bits into like colors.

4. Fill muffin tins about ¾ full of crayon bits.

5. Bake your crayon bits in a 300 degree oven for 10-15 minutes.

6. Remove from oven and let crayons cool for 1 hour.

7. Once they've hardened up, the crayons should pop right out of the muffin tin.

You can also use oven-safe silicone molds. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and make super cute hearts, stars or flower-shaped crayons!
