BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A pair of teens are facing assault and robbery charges after police say they stabbed a Burlington man during a fight over stolen goods.
Police say 17-year old Connor Fitzgerald and 16-year-old Tam Mai attacked a 24-year-old Burlington man outside the Champlain Farms on Main Street. Police say they found the victim bleeding outside the convenience store around 4:20 a.m. Monday morning. He told police the attackers stole his jacket, cell phone and cash. Eventually he admitted he knew the attackers. And they were partners in string of Burlington thefts.
Fitzgerald was in court Monday. He denied the charges and was held on 10-thousand dollars bail after his mom declined to have him released into her care.
"The suspects in this case reportedly were upset with the victim who ended up with more proceeds than they did so they were trying to even out the gains of breaking into these cars," said Burlington Police Dep. Chief Andi Higbee.
Mai is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday for his role in the assault.
