Crash sends inmates, corrections officer to hospital

ALTONA, N.Y. -

A crash in New York Monday landed a Corrections officer, six inmates and at least one other person in the hospital.

The inmates were being transported from Dannemora to Altona when the state van and a car collided on Devil's Den Road. The injured were transported to CVPH in Plattsburgh. None of the injuries were considered serious.

The van was thrown on its side on impact and the front end of the car was mangled.

The vehicles collided just two miles away from the Altona Corrections Facility.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
