MONTPELIER, Vt. -
The merger of Vermont's two largest utility may mean customers of another one might pay more.
Central Vermont Public Service and Green Mountain Power merged and now want to impose a single transmission rate for electricity carried on its lines for other companies.
That could mean a 1.25 percent rate increase for Washington Electric Co-op. The Co-op says it should not be paying for a rate increased caused by the merger.
GMP has not filed for a new transmission rate since 1996.
