New DNA evidence has won a convicted killer a new trial and at least a temporary taste of freedom.

John Grega, 50, was released from a Vermont prison Wednesday night-- 18 years after a murder that he says he didn't commit.

Grega was serving life without parole for the rape and murder of his wife, Christine, while the couple was on vacation in West Dover in 1994.

But a judge this week vacated his conviction after DNA evidence raised questions about Grega's guilt.

Grega was released on bail pending a new trial.
