Northern NY substitute teacher sentenced for raping teen

MALONE, N.Y. -

A former substitute teacher will spend seven years in jail for raping a teenage girl.

Michael Scaringe, 64, of Saranac Lake, N.Y., was found guilty in June of raping a 13-year-old girl in December 2009.

Scaringe was the director of a local Youth Center and a substitute teacher at St. Bernard's Catholic Elementary School.

Friday, he was sentenced to seven years in state prison.
