Hartford man run over by his own truck following crash, fight

HARTFORD, Vt. -

A car crash in Hartford led to a fight and ended with a man getting run over by his own truck.

Vermont State police say Ethan Gallo, 23, of Hartford, was rear-ended by Scott Starrett, 20, of Hartford, on Woodstock Road shortly before noon Friday.

Police say Starrett started to back up from Gallo's car after the crash, and Gallo thought Starrett was trying to flee the scene. So Gallo allegedly pulled Starrett out of his truck and the two started fighting. But Starrett's truck was still in reverse and started rolling away. Starrett chased after it, slipped and fell, and the vehicle rolled over his chest. It came to a stop with the driver's side front tire on Starrett's chest. Police say witnesses were able to lift the truck off Starrett's chest before emergency responders arrived. He suffered serious injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.
