Hartford investigates school bus fires

Posted: Updated:

A rough start to the school year for a company in Hartford -- its school busses were targeted by an arsonist.

It happened Sunday night on Pine Street, where the busses are kept.  Two busses were completely destroyed and a third was damaged by the fires.  The busses are owned by Butler's Bus Service and are used outside of the Hartford School District.  Right now police do not have any suspects, but they are following leads.

"Once you get into life and high expense vandalism, it doesn't become a prank any more," said Hartford Police Lt. Brad Vail. "It is dangerous and it goes beyond that of a prank."

Police say school bus routes will not be effected by the arson.  The estimated damage is more than 200-thousand dollars.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Arson Tip Line -- 1 800 32-ARSON.
