Judge to decide if former nurse should stand trial

MORRISVILLE, Vt. -

A judge is weighing whether a grandmother and former nurse accused in the deadly drugging of her young grandson is fit to stand trial.

Pamela Raymond was arrested two years ago for giving her 3-month-old grandson an antidepressant. The boy overdosed. She pleaded not guilty.

A defense psychiatrist said she is incompetent to stand trial and was "very disturbed" after a behavior change.

Prosecutors argue that happened within days of Raymond learning she would not get a plea deal unless she agree to spend eight years behind bars.

Raymond lost her nursing license back in 1996 for diverting drugs from patients.
