MALONE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 16-year-old boy riding an all-terrain vehicle ran through a stop sign in New York's North Country and was struck by an SUV, ejected from the ATV and killed.
State Police in Malone say William Derochie II of Malone was riding on County Route 28 about 6 p.m. Wednesday along with another dirt bike. Derochie went through a stop sign at State Route 30 and was struck by a Dodge Durango driven by 35-year-old Trina Lewis of Constable.
Troopers say Lewis couldn't avoid the bike. Derochie was pronounced dead at the scene. A backseat passenger in her vehicle was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released.
No tickets were issued.
The investigation into the crash continues.
