Vermont delegate talks about GOP convention

TAMPA, Fla. -

Mitt Romney will formally accept the Republican Party nomination to run for president Thursday night in Tampa. Fourteen Vermont delegates will be there to experience it.

Nearly 2,300 delegates from across the country are in Tampa this week to develop a party platform and meet with GOP leaders. Vermont delegate Rich Cochran was selected to be a part of the platform committee. He says the Romney campaign's message is directed toward undecideds and independents in states like Vermont. He plans to bring that message home with him after the convention.

"Mitt Romney's message, I think you'll find the passion and clearly the heartfelt speeches given over the last few days by these senior leaders, it really is directed toward those independents and conservative Democrats who know it's time for a change," Cochran said.

Cochran was able to add two line items to the Republican Party platform, one to aid in National Guard funding and another to increase research about the delivery of health care.
