RUTLAND, Vt. -
The estimated price for a new water filtration system in Rutland has gone down.
The city currently uses chlorine to clean the water, but that is changing.
City councilors voted to put a $7.5 million bond on the ballot this November to pay for a new water filtration system, but now the Rutland Herald says that estimate has dropped to $5.5 million.
Public Works Commissioner Evan Pilachowski says if approved, the bond to pay for this system would cost residents $125 a year.
