WEST RUTLAND, Vt. -
West Rutland parents are dropping the lawsuit against the school board for their firing of the former principal Juanita Burch-Clay.
28 parents stood behind the suit alleging that the board broke open meeting laws when they scheduled the vote not to renew Burch-Clay's contract.
The Rutland Herald reports they did not want to waste any more taxpayer dollars because the suit could not save her job.
The district has spent nearly $28,000 in attorney's fees to fire Burch-Clay -- more than double the legal fee budget.
