BARRE, Vt -- Nick Pilotte survived a wild Street Stock feature to lock up the series points championship Sunday as part of the Labor Day Classic race card at Thunder Road.
Pilotte took the lead from Emily Packard on lap 14 and avoided trouble the rest of the way as the Jefferson, New Hampshire driver claimed his second straight feature win. Pilotte's victory along with an early black flag to second place Dean Switzer, essentially locked up the Street Stock points title with just one race to go.
In the Tigers, Randy Gonyaw isn't part of the tight points battle, but the South Barre driver had the car to beat, surviving a restart with three laps to go for his second win of the season. Bobby Therrien finished second to pull closer to points leaders Brendan Moodie and Shawn Fleury with one race left.
