Vt. inmate charged with punching officer

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A female inmate at a Vermont prison has been charged with punching a correctional officer.

Angela Avery was charged with simple assault in the Aug. 13 confrontation at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in South Burlington.

The 40-year-old Avery is scheduled for a court appearance on Sept. 25.
