HINESBURG, Vt. -
Hinesburg is rewriting its zoning regulations.
There are three main objectives to revise the zoning rural parts of town. One is to allow for increase land use, especially for farmers, to keep the land open. Another is to improve design standard for development. And the town also wants to establish a development cap.
"This proposal incorporates both signs of the coin. We want to encourage appropriate rural area development that grows our economy and at the same time make sure we have reasonable limits in these same rural areas so we can have some and not destroy the character that everybody values today," said Alex Weinhagen, the Hinesburg planning and zoning director.
The proposal is posted on the town's website.
A public hearing will be held Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the town offices.
